Founding Partners

The AAU was founded in 1900 by a group of fourteen universities offering the Ph.D. degree. The AAU currently consists of sixty American universities and two Canadian universities. The Association of American Universities (AAU) focuses on issues that are important to research intensive universities, such as funding for research, research policy issues, and graduate and undergraduate	The Pew Charitable Trusts support nonprofit activities in the areas of culture, education, the environment, health and human services, public policy and religion. Based in Philadelphia, the Trusts make strategic investments to help organizations and citizens develop practical solutions to difficult problems.
